Don’t lump everyone of a race together. You’d hate it if someone did that to you. I know it’s not the same historically, and I’m not saying to just forget that. But it’s basic human decency to not assume that because someone is XYZ that they think and act like XYZ.
I also take issue with him saying that black people are the most patriotic. I agree with his argument that black people sacrificed a lot and gained nothing. But the same could be said about other races in America, too. He says it’s stolen ground. It is. But it’s not stolen from black people. It’s stolen from Native Americans. He says black people built the cities and did the manual labor. They did. But so did the Irish and the Chinese. Japanese people were put into internment camps during WWII. You’re telling me they didn’t suffer as much? The Japanese soldiers and the ones who stuck by America after all the things we did to them, you want to tell them that they’re not as patriotic as you? I’m not at all denying the contributions and sacrifice that black people have made, and that they’ve gotten very little for it. I’m not saying that America’s treatment of black people is at all okay. But when you start making it a contest of who’s more oppressed, I can’t listen to you. Mexican people don’t have privilege. At one time Scots-Irish people were oppressed. Innocent Japanese people were rounded up as enemy agents. Native Americans have been confined and devalued and had their cultures denied. Gay people have been killed in hate crimes. Muslims are profiled and detained at airports. Women have been treated for all of history as inferior, so don’t say that black people have the longest history. So don’t say that black people are the only ones who’ve suffered. You can’t just erase every other oppressed group like that.
You weren’t listening too carefully, were you? He made mention of the fact that White people stole this lovely land from Natives? How we stole land that was rightfully Mexico’s. Not for nothing, but you sound like an asshole. A derailing asshole at that. I’mma go light. A couple of those groups you mentioned? Did you know that……..BLACK PEOPLE are also apart of those groups? Shocker! There are Women who are Black. Gay people who are Black. Natives? Yeah, there are black ones too! Did you know there were also Muslims who were Black and NOT apart of the Nation of Islam (no shade, just sayin’)? There are even Black Irish and, here’s the kicker, Black Chinese I know, mind-blowing. Yes, I’m being needlessly condescending, but you pretty much proved your point null and void when you decided to tell us, Black people, not to play Oppression Olympics all while playing the Oppression Olympics.
