I love it when activist vegans say that humans aren’t designed to eat meat based on our teeth.
Go study the gastrointestinal tracts of herbivores, compare it to the human GI tract, and get back to me on that.
Humans can digest raw meat. There are indigenous cultures whose diets still consist of large amounts of raw meat. There’s a branch of raw foodism that includes notable amounts of raw meat.
To be fair, these diets are different from eating raw mass-produced meat that has much higher risk of contamination and then sits in your grocery store fridge for a week before you get it.
If you have made a decision to not eat meat and/or animal products for any amount of good reasons, and you can afford to do this, I fully support you. Nor would I be offended if you avoided watching others eat meat. Vegan food can be good, I’ve added some vegan recipes to my diet because it seems to help some digestion problems I have. I too do not like modern industrial farming practices.
But backing up your evangelism with flawed “facts”, that I will not support.
yuuuup. We have a pathetic caecum, we’re not designed to eat just plant matter. Check out a horse or rabbit’s caecum compared to ours. Huuuuuuuuge. We’re omnivores. I’m personally a veggie, but I’m not a herbivore. Just doesn’t work like that.
also, unlike all other animals, we have brains that render us capable of deciding whether or not we WANT to eat meat. which is really all that matters, no?
the end.
Bolded for awesomesauce.
I’ve heard the inverse too: “Hey vegan, what do you think THESE [points to canines] are for?!”
I don’t know, something that I don’t do?
